The key to preventing packaging paper from getting damp lies in controlling the storage environment, standardizing stacking methods, using moisture-proof materials, and using desiccants and other auxiliary methods to block moisture intrusion at the source.
Specific measures can be taken for different stages:
Optimize the storage environment: Warehouses should be kept dry, well-ventilated, and cool, with relative humidity controlled between 40% and 60% and temperature maintained between 10 and 30°C. During high-humidity seasons, it is recommended to equip the warehouse with dehumidifiers or fans to enhance air convection and prevent problems such as "wrinkled edges," deformation, or misregistration caused by paper absorbing moisture.
Physical isolation for moisture prevention: When stacking paper, it must be elevated using a single flat pallet, at least 25mm off the ground and more than 50cm away from the wall, to prevent moisture penetration from the ground and walls. Avoid using strip pallets to reduce the contact area with humid air.
Sealed Packaging Protection: Unused sheets of paper after opening should be immediately and tightly wrapped with stretch film and sealed along with the pallet to maximize moisture protection. Cut sheets should also be packaged immediately to avoid prolonged exposure to high humidity.
Use of Moisture-Proof Materials and Technologies:
Moisture-proof paper or surface coating treatments (such as PP, PE, or PET film) can significantly improve moisture resistance.
Placing silica gel or calcium chloride desiccant inside the packaging absorbs excess moisture, especially suitable for humidity-sensitive printing or packaging applications.
Regular Inspection and FIFO Management: Regularly inspect pallets for damage and ensure the protective film is intact to prevent accidental moisture absorption. Adhere to the FIFO principle to prevent yellowing, brittleness, or mold growth due to prolonged storage.
Protection During Production and Use: If printing requires batch processing, it is recommended to wrap remaining paper with stretch film and cover it with a wooden board for protection to prevent moisture absorption and its impact on subsequent printing quality.
