Damp packaging paper can be dried quickly using methods such as low-temperature blower drying, freezing, paper clamping for moisture absorption, or natural ventilation. The key is to avoid high temperatures that could cause the paper to deform or become brittle.

 

For different levels of dampness and usage needs, the following efficient and safe drying methods are recommended:

Low-Temperature Blower Drying (Suitable for mild dampness): Use a blower on a low setting, holding the paper 15-20 cm away and blowing evenly, turning it over while blowing to prevent localized overheating. This method is fast, but temperature control is necessary to avoid wrinkling or brittleness.

 

Freeze-drying (Suitable for moderate dampness, preserving paper shape): Lay the damp paper flat in the freezer (below -18°C) and freeze for at least 48 hours. Low temperatures inhibit mold growth and slowly dehydrate, causing the paper fibers to shrink naturally, resulting in less deformation after drying. After removing it, place it in a ventilated area to warm naturally until the frost sublimates before use.

 

Paper-Sandwich Absorption Method (Suitable for small quantities of paper, home use): Sandwich the damp paper between two layers of highly absorbent paper towels or Xuan paper, press it flat with a heavy object, and let it sit for several hours. The paper towels can be replaced continuously to absorb moisture. This method is simple and does not damage the paper.

 

Ventilated Air-Drying Method (Suitable for large batches, not urgent): Lay the paper flat and place it in a well-ventilated, dry, and dark environment. A fan on a low setting can be used to accelerate air circulation. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and brittleness.

 

Magazine Sandwich Drying Method (Suitable for thin paper, restoring flatness): Sandwich the damp sheet of paper between thick books or magazines and place it in a dry place. The capillary action between the papers absorbs the moisture while maintaining flatness. This method is suitable for restoring the flatness of printing paper.
